Director Clarita Filgueiras offers Flamenco classes at all levels. Teaching intensive technique and cutting-edge choreography.
Clarita is recognized as one of the finest exponents in her field, Flamenco, and all that it embraces.
Between tours she teaches and works where she resides in Miami with her own dance company, Clarita Filgueiras-Flamenco Puro.
Clarita Filgueiras was recently invited to teach Flamenco classes at the Carnival Center’s Flamenco Festival along with Spain’s finest.

New Entry Level Adult Class
|
This class is for students who have never studied before or have very little experience in Flamenco. This class covers the fundamentals of hands, arms, and body movement, development of footwork, and basic “compas.” Castanets are introduced and played in this class for Sevillanas. Choreography taught is Sevillanas.

Beginners II
|
Beginners with more knowledge than New Beginners. These beginners know all 4 Sevillanas coplas. Flamenco technique, brazeo (arm work), taconeo (footwork), and “compas” with palmas (hand clapping). Emphasis on Sevillanas and other choreography. New choreography - Tangos.

Wednesday

Beginners/Intermediate
|
Flamenco technique, brazeo (arm work), taconeo (footwork) to different rhythms, and “compas” with palmas (hand clapping). Emphasis on Flamenco dance choreography and compas.

Monday and Thursdays
7:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Intermediate/Advanced
|
Emphasis on choreography, Flamenco technique, and “compas.” Elements covered include the entrada (entering), llamadas (calls), marcaje (marking across the stage), and escobilla (footwork), according to the choreography being taught. This class also covers the structure of the dance as it relates to the cante (song).

Class fees are $15 per class. Private class fees are $40 per class and are available with flexible time schedules by appointment only. All classes are taught by Clarita Filgueiras.
Clarita Filgueiras is an exceptional performer and instructor. She has seven years of performance experience with a New York/Madrid based dance company working with some of Spain’s top artists. She is noted for her close attention to detail, technique, and unrivaled style which makes Filgueiras’ classes and workshops as popular as her performances.

Class Attire:
Women:
A long skirt or flamenco skirt if you have one.
Flamenco, character, or closed shoes with a medium sized thick heel.
On top a T-shirt, leotard, or tank top and leggings underneath.
Hair pulled back and minimum jewelry.
Men:
Pants, flamenco shoes, loafers, or ankle boots, and T-shirt.
OTHER INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES: We offer special courses in Rumba and Sevillanas for bridal showers, parties, quinces, contests, weddings, and special events.
